Materials Coloured concrete, tile and granite

This artwork uses surfaces to create unity between the indoor and outdoor areas of the station. Coloured concrete, brick and tile connect walls and walkways. Some tiles and medallions feature laser engravings of plants and animals such as frogs. For Pat Durr, frogs are a potent symbol of life and its complexities. She writes that, “while each frog within its life is completely transformed from one body to another, frogs are an animal which has been on earth virtually unchanged for millennia. Frogs represent change while they themselves are unchanging.” Other sections of the mural are abstract. Colours were chosen from nature: the deep purple-bronze of maple trees is echoed in concrete and brick.
