The Goulbourn Recreation Complex is home to a beautiful work of art by local ceramic artist Cynthia O’Brien. The artwork consists of more than 2,000 individual clay leaves arranged in the shape of a tree. The artwork is incorporated into a living wall, a vertical garden located within the complex. Modelled after local neighbourhood streets, the clay-leaf tree grows out of a spiral of ceramic amphorae (vessels) that symbolize the seeds of the Goulbourn community. O’Brien worked with local families whose names are inscribed on the back of these leaves. These names will be left as a legacy for future generations.
